Historical Preservation and the Purple Team

Historical preservation is very important to what the Purple team is aiming to accomplish this summer for Crossroads to Freedom.  Historical Preservation is the collecting, conserving, and protecting of historical documents or objects.  In today’s world we are able to digitally preserve documents in order for their content to be preserved for future generations.  This modern day historical preservation involves scanning pertinent documents which makes digital copies to be viewed on a computer.  This modern process of historical preservation is far from the early days of preservation.  Having these modern tools enables the purple team and the Crossroads team as a whole to save the history of the civil rights era in Memphis, as well as make this history available to the public online.
